The anticipated salary range for this role is between $79,000.00 and $95,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The Finance- Regulatory Reporting Data Governance Analyst (DGA) assists the Enterprise Finance Data Management Executive and various data leads and stewards in implementing the organization's data governance plan across the Americas Division for Finance and related data domains. The DGA role will support and assist the Finance organization's data management needs and work with the key stakeholders in Finance, across business and subsidiaries to ensure adherence to SMBC’s data management policies, standards, procedures and frameworks, including related SMBC's corporate policies.
Scope
This role is part of a team established by the Enterprise Data Governance Program. The Data Governance Analyst (DGA) role will support and assist the Finance organization's data management needs and will work with the key stakeholders in Finance and across business and subsidiaries to ensure adherence to SMBC’s data management policies, standards, procedures and frameworks, including related SMBC's corporate policies. The DGA will act as a key point of support on all things data and assist in running data management activities such as prioritize and centrally coordinate data quality issue resolution efforts, and process re-engineering and automation.
A well-qualified candidate for the position must possess a deep background in finance, treasury functions and regulatory reporting requirements. Also, the DGA should have sound knowledge of data governance, quality, issue management, lineage & related tools, project management skills, controls, product management, assist in developing remediation plan(s) for data quality issues, specific regulatory and intrernal audit mandates related to data and data technologies.
Role Objectives
- Actively supports the business to capture, report, escalate and resolve data quality, regulatory, internal audit and management self-identified issues
- Actively engages in performing root cause analysis, onboarding and tracking thru the remediation process for data quality issues impacting the regulatory reporting function
- Analyzes data or new requirements for reports or data migration to assist in efforts to consolidate data in centralized warehouses
- Partners with our technology teams to implement the solutions necessary to support the data governance program
- Works with business to document Key Data Output assessment & data lineage reviews data flows
- Assists in understanding requirements by translating regulatory rules into data policies, standards and procedures
- Works with business to research and document data elements (business terms) used in products, current or new reports
- Promotes the use of accepted data definitions, common reference data and maintains business metadata definitions, domain values, business rules and follows data best practices
- Liaise & support horizontal teams for regulatory and risk reporting
- Poses strong communication , writing and presentation skills
Qualifications and Skills
- BS/ Master’s degree preferred: MBA or MS in Risk Management, Operations Research or Computer Science or related degree from an accredited university
- 2+ years of experience in program data governance, regulatory and risk reporting, internal audit coverage of finance verticals, issue resolution management with proven success in data quality issue management execution
- Data analysis skills with the capability of identifying data quality issues and correlating those issues with data specifications and quality rules
- Strong ability to data quality and issue resolution results, escalate issues to management to ensure timely action and delivery
- Broad understanding of current regulatory environment covering BCBS 239, Part 30 and other regulatory requirements related with data is preferred (Basel, CCAR, Liquidity reporting, regulatory reporting)
- Experience in participating in a data governance program with specialist knowledge of data governance principles and practices
- Project management expertise and knowledge of methodology/SDLC/Agile etc., processes in IT or financial services environments. For example, experience using agile project management tools such as Jira
