Overview:
The Cardiovascular Special is responsible to perform all required procedures in the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory, operating specialized equipment including but not limited to the x-ray equipment, EP pacing systems, hemodynamic monitoring, and other specialized equipment. This positon trains other staff technologists and students as needed. The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications:- Graduate from accredited school of allied health services required or Completed 300 hours of a clinical rotation from an allied health services program
- BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association. NIH within 90 days of employment/transfer.
One of the following certifications required within 18 months of hire/transfer: - RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist), Certification with NASPE (National Society Pacing Electrophysiology), Registry in ARRT-CV, Registry in ARRT-VI.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist license required, if applicable.
- Specialized training in cardiovascular procedures is required
