A non-profit organization providing a complete range of treatments for opioids and other substance use disorders for New Yorkers living with addiction is looking form an CASAC Counselor
Type: Perm/ Full-Time
Schedule: Mon/Tues/Thurs 9:30AM-5:30PM; Wed/Fri 10:30AM-6:30PM; alt
Sat 7:30AM-12:30PM
Location: New York, NY
MAJOR DUTIES:
Provides counseling sessions as mandated by all applicable regulations including but not limited to: Federal, State, Local and Accreditation bodies.
Additionally, the Counselor must be knowledgeable of and follow all agency and program specific policies and procedures.
Maintains all required documentation in the case record, including but not limited to intake assessments, treatment plans, psycho-socials, progress notes, records of contact with other agencies the client is or has been engaged with, and information about public assistance or disability benefits.
Be cognizant of the policies and procedures of the Workfirst model of Methadone treatment, and coordinates actively with the Department of Vocational Services.
Collaborate with Vocational staff to integrate vocational rehabilitation into overall treatment process.
Provides active assistance to clients in regards to maintenance of public assistance or other benefits, and be familiar with rules and regulations of Human Resources Administration regarding client requirements, especially as it affects work requirements
Coordinates actively with Entitlement Assessors.
Links clients up with all necessary medical and psychiatric providers, and supports them in their follow-though on these matters as needed.
Conducts intake interviews, pre-screenings and other admission-related activities as necessary.
Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences and meetings.
Conducts individual and group sessions.
Participates in the rotation schedule for Saturday Clinic.
Fills in for counselors who are on leave.
Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
BA in Human Services plus 2 years equivalent experience.
Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) required.
Understands substance use and/or Methadone treatment and basic counseling skills.
Has the ability to work well as part of a complex team.
Must be multi-culturally sensitive to the needs of clients in treatment.
Computer competent.
