CDL Driver Laborer - Prairieland FS

REPORTS TO: Location Manager STATUS: Non-Exempt

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Operates a single, tandem, or multi-axle configuration truck for delivery and pick-up of agronomy and energy products following specified time schedules to/from the company locations or customer locations to achieve profitable business growth. Assist in the daily operational duties at the assigned facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.

Follow the maintenance schedule of the facility and equipment.

Performing daily truck maintenance (safety checks of assigned vehicle(s) and associated equipment by conducting pre-trip inspections, checking fuel and oil levels, and inspecting tires, lights, and brakes).

Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.

Maintains the facility and equipment image.

Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.

Safely load and unload containers, pallets, materials, and products on trucks, trailers, and railcars by hand or forklift trucks. Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance the distribution from the front of the trailer to the back and from side to side. Check axle weights and load them in accordance with the DOT regulations.

Responsible for inventory and distribution of products.

Stocks and moves warehouse products and materials.

Pick up and safely transport goods in a timely manner to promote superior customer service and professionalism within the company and the industry.

Accurately completing, storing, and submitting all necessary documentation (bill of ladings, delivery slips, and invoices) and returning to the branch location at the end of the day to ensure timely receipt and payment of invoices.

Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs (logbooks, cargo records, and other assigned record-keeping duties).

Responsible for maintaining operations at the retail location.

Assist both full-time and part-time personnel.

Assists in obtaining goals by improving efficiency and reducing costs.

Provide excellent customer service.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for maintaining company equipment according to company standards, adhering to the company Uniform Policy, and maintaining the appropriate professional image.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Educations and Experience

Normally, it requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years or more of related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to operate tractor-trailer or tender truck equipment and meet company safety and DOT standards and basic business principles of inventory management and mechanics.

Functional Competencies

A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required, as well as a CDL license with required endorsements and any other applicable certification, license, or permit, valid medical card, and satisfactory driving record, as applicable.

Alert, focused and detail-oriented.

Proven professional communication and customer service skills and the ability to comprehend simple instructions and communicate one-on-one and in small groups with customers and other employees.

Demonstrated time management and basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, along with the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Self-starter who works well independently and in a team environment.

Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant.

Other Requirements

Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance and repair and lift 70 lbs.

Ability to work hours other than those considered normal to meet seasonal demands.

Occasionally exposed or required to:

Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)

Noisy conditions

Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures

May be required to work at varying heights

Lift 51-70 lbs.
