Description
A CDL Driver will transport loads and/or company equipment of various types and weights from one point to another without damage to the object moved, property or personnel. This position sometimes acts in conjunction as a Laborer, Machinery Mover, Millwright, Rigger and/or Operator.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate vehicles safely within DOT regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of materials and/or equipment.
- Responsible for personal safety and safety of co-workers
- Pre-Inspect truck, trailer, and loaded materials.
- Perform preventative maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of equipment
- Responsible for slings, cables, straps, and the equipment prior to lifting/strapping operations
- Occasionally acts in a combined capacity as Rigger/Millwright/Machinery Mover
- Other duties as assigned by foreman or management
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Valid Class A or B CDL is a must
- Must hold a valid DOT Medical Certification Card
- Safe driving record and history
- Pass a DOT drug test and have no prior positive tests or refusals in the last 3 years
- Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of materials/equipment.
- 2+ years of CDL driving experience
- Must demonstrate excellent attendance patterns
- Willing to travel and stay out-of-town overnight if a job requires it; limited basis
- Previous knowledge and experience with moving machinery and equipment is a plus; forklifts, cranes, etc.
- Molding and fabrication experience is a plus
