**This is a 40 hour per week position, Monday through Friday with Manager on duty weekend rotation and on-call for call-ins**

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Food Services Certified Dietary Manager plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operations of food services to ensure daily provision of quality nutritional services in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Campbell Street Services standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
- Test cooked food for taste, temperature and smell
- Ensure menus are served as written and approved by Registered Dietician
- Plan and direct food service staff to prepare and serve high quality food, on time, and at proper temperature for meals and snacks
- Ensure that the resident’s physician-ordered diets are prepared and served accurately at meals and snacks
- Use forecasts, food waste records, inventory, and equipment records to plan the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment
- Order food, supplies, and equipment for food preparation and service, reviewing all deliveries of food for quality, proper amounts, and pricing
- Recruit, select, train, counsel, and supervise food service staff
- Complete nutrition documentation timely and accurately
- Participate in interdisciplinary patient care meetings involving nutrition
- Assist the Registered Dietician in the collection of nutrition information and any other pertinent information
- Effectively manage and operate within budget
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards residents
- Assist in the evacuation of residents
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including but not limited to: Patient rights and safety and sanitation
- Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc
- Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies; including harassment and compliance procedures
- Develop job descriptions and job duties for each level of food service personnel
- Develop work schedules to ensure adequate staffing to cover all shifts
- Create and monitor budgets for a cost-effective program
- Manage revenue-generating services
- Protect food in all phases of preparation, holding, service, cooking, and transportation, using HACCP guidelines
- Process new diet orders and diet changes: Keep diet cards updated
- Complete the assigned MDS section according to required timeline
- Ensure proper sanitation and safety practices of staff
- Participate in menu planning, including responding to client preferences, substitution lists, therapeutic diets, and industry trends
- Inspect meals and assure that standards for appearance, palatability, temperature, and serving times are met
- Prepare cleaning schedules and maintain equipment to ensure food safety
- Support Registered Dietician duties as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
- CDM OR State approved course in food services to meet federal regulatory requirements
- Graduate of Dietary Manager’s program (2 or 4 year food service program)
- Current certification as a Certified Dietary Manager in the state of Iowa
- One year experience in post-acute care food service
- Minimum two years experience in food service management
- Current awareness of legislation and regulations influencing the practice of standards of care
- Skilled in motivating, coaching, and supervising food service personnel
- Intermediate computer skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
