CEI Inspector - BCC Engineering

We are currently looking to add a CEI Inspector to our team. As a CEI Inspector your responsibilities will included monitoring the contractor’s on-site construction activities, performing inspections, and conducting field material sampling and testing to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications.

• Assist with inspections and monitoring of assigned field work activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents
• Coordinate work and inspections with contractor’s representative as required by higher-level inspectors
• Under the general supervision of an Inspector or a Senior Inspector, check lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using standard field measuring equipment
• Ensure that highways, work zones, and traffic control setups conform to contract requirements
• Assist in field sampling and testing of component materials in accordance with the construction contract and inspection of completed work in accordance with client’s scope of services (plans, specifications, and special provisions)
• Aid in the inspection of traffic control devices and equipment and reporting of deficiencies to ensure compliance with applicable standards
• Maintain detailed, accurate records of daily operations and significant events
• Assist in the preparation of inspection reports and during project administration and inspection meetings
• Participate in the development of job safety practices and observe general job safety practices
• Responsible for performing assignments in assisting Inspector and Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties; receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress
• Available to work daytime, nighttime, and/or weekend shifts as required
• Available for up to 40% out of town travel (expenses paid)
• Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
• Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals

• Possesses excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in full suite of Microsoft office programs and Adobe Acrobat
• Able to read and interpret project drawings and specifications
• Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school graduate or equivalent plus two (2) years experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, or an Engineer Intern with a Civil Engineering degree (requires certificate) having the ability to earn the required qualifications and certifications within one year.
• Valid Driver’s License and a clear driving record

Must have, or be able to earn within 6 months, the following qualifications:

• GDOT Field Concrete Technician
• GDOT WECS
• GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control)
• ATSSA Advanced Traffic Control
• Nuclear Radiation Safety Certificate
• Passing scores on GDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, and Basic Highway Plan Reading)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associates degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited university may be substituted for experience
• EIT License
