Location: VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) in Reno, NV
Salary: $115-125K
Health Care System (VASNHCS), Reno, Nevada. The performance period is for one (1) base 12-month period, and three (3) 12-month option periods.
The CM Services personnel will assist the VA Contracting Officer/Senior Resident Engineer/Resident Engineer/Project Manager in reviewing design submissions and monitoring the Construction Contractor's (Contractor) work for compliance with the project contract requirements.
The CM services will support the following design-build project on the VASNHCS: Replace Seismically Deficient Boiler Plant, Building 8. The project summary is as follows: Construction of an approximately 11,000 GSF Central Utility Plant (CUP), including a main level and mezzanine, housing three fire tube steam boilers, four chillers, and four cooling towers to provide steam heating and cooling for the entire Reno VA campus. After construction and successful activation of the new CUP, the existing seismically deficient Boiler Plant, Building 8, will be demolished. Ancillary to the overall construction, the project includes paving of parking areas adjacent to the new CUP.
Daily Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent relationships with clients, building occupants, and Contractor
- Support the CMa team in design phase and construction job-site meetings.
- Provide schedule reviews, document control, manage Submittals and RFI's, track, evaluate and provide recommendations for potential change orders, evaluate and provide recommendations for monthly pay applications, provide quality assurance inspections on-site and various reporting to the client as required.
- Provide Engineering technical oversight and evaluation as they pertain to all project work.
- Provide project Engineering, Planning, Scheduling, Design reviews and Value Management Assessments
- Survey existing job conditions and confer with medical center personnel to determine exact scope of project, phasing, impact on other medical center services and other specific design requirements.
- Have the capability of reviewing, preparing and making professional recommendations on scope of work documents, submittals, RFIs and proposed changes.
- Have the capability of determining the value of acceptable work in place.
- Must take an active part in the task order
- Quality Assurance Surveillance Program and other requirements set forth under the Contract
- Productively contribute to the CMa teams overall objective of this contract which is to provide the Government with support for Construction Management and Related Services
Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certifications, Clearances, etc.)
- ME shall hold a bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- The individual shall have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction, preferably with a focus on medical facilities.
- The CM-ME shall be able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each considering the Requirements of the Project.
- The CM-ME shall posses the knowledge of Construction Contract Documents including Front End and Technical Specifications and Drawings to readily understand and assess the requirements.
- The CM-ME must have the skillset and a working knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting and scheduling to lead to the project’ success.
- The CM-ME must possess Communication, Language, and Software Skills with the ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.

- Experience with federal projects and with the VA in particular
