Overview: Our client in Willoughby, OH is seeking a dynamic and experienced Cell/Team Leader to manage the daily operations of a CNC machining cell. This role is ideal for a leader with strong CNC machining and supervisory skills, a commitment to safety, and a drive for operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of CNC machinists, technicians, and operators.
- Foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Set-up and optimize CNC machines.
- Troubleshoot production issues in coordination with department managers and operators.
Production Planning & Workflow Management:
- Collaborate with production planners to maintain daily/weekly production schedules.
- Manage workflow within the cell to ensure on-time delivery and efficiency.
- Implement workflow improvements to boost productivity.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards in all machining processes.
- Conduct inspections and implement quality control measures.
Safety & Compliance:
- Maintain a safe working environment and enforce safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
Training & Development:
- Provide training to team members and facilitate cross-training for versatility.
- Identify skill gaps and support team development.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure CNC machines are properly maintained.
- Address equipment issues promptly to minimize production downtime.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of production, quality inspections, and resource allocation.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in CNC machine set-up, preferably with parts made from stainless steel and high nickel alloys.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- CNC programming experience is a plus but not required.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor''s degree or relevant certifications preferred).
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in manufacturing ERP software.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Professionalism in handling tasks and interactions.
- Strong technical knowledge of CNC processes.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to remain stationary 60% of the time and operate machines.
- Must be able to move about the shop floor and transport parts/equipment.
- Regularly required to push, pull, or lift up to 60 pounds.
- Exposure to machinery, mechanical parts, and loud environments.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
