CNC Programmer/Machinist
Do you like working a 4-day week and enjoying long weekends with your family and friends? If so, our 40 hour/4 day work schedule is what you have been looking for! Depending on our workload and your schedule, we offer Friday and Saturday mornings as overtime. We are a small precision machine shop with a low-turnover rate looking for a CNC Operator/Machinist who wants to make a career with us.
Assabet Machine Corporation is a family-owned high-mixed, low volume, fast paced precision machine shop located in Boxborough, MA. We manufacture high tolerance custom machined components for the medical, military, microwave, aerospace and telecommunications markets.
Assabet is looking to expand by adding an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to our team.
As a Machinist/Programmer with Assabet Machine you will be responsible for:
- Programming, set-up and operation of various 3, 4 & 5-axis vertical mills, adjustments to fixtures and inspection of CNC machined components to strict customer part specifications.
- You must possess strong programming, manufacturing and inspection skills.
- You will be required to convey important information about job status, part quality and estimated completion time as needed.
- Responsible for assisting other operators in the department with machine set-ups and general manufacturing practices. Oversees trains and instructs operators as needed.
Candidates should possess the following:
- 5+ years CNC machining experience.
- Proficiency with Mastercam.
- Knowledge and/or practice of Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S.
- Dedication and drive to develop and implement new methods of programming, fixturing and manufacturing in order to improve quality, reduce cost and further continuous improvement.
- Highest attention to detail, quality, tolerances and on-time delivery.
- Possess the dedication and drive to be a Class A Machinist and Programmer and has creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both as a team player and independently with minimum supervision.
- Critical thinking, good communication, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude, punctuality, dependability, effort and energy.
- Must be legal to work in the US.
