Job Title: CNC Service Engineer
Hours: Full Time, Core Business Hours
Classification: Non-Exempt
Travel Requirement: 50% or more
Job Overview: The Service Engineer is responsible for providing on-site and remote support to customers by installing, maintaining, and repairing CNC machine tools. The role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining various machine controls and a strong focus on customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on CNC machine tools.
- Create and update technical documentation.
- Generate reports related to service activities.
- Collaborate with customers' service engineers, offering assistance and training on newer product lines.
- Build and maintain strong communication and customer service relationships.
- Manage challenging customer situations with professionalism and respond promptly to their needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and CNC machine maintenance.
- Experience with CNC machines (DMG, MORI SEIKI, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens) is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service orientation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Adaptability to changes and the ability to manage competing demands and unexpected events.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% within a multi-state region, with the ability to fly or drive as necessary. When not traveling, the engineer will work at the Technical Center.
Work Environment: The role involves exposure to manufacturing environments, with potential hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, and heavy machinery. Some work will be performed in a general office setting.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent travel, vehicle operation, and physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Periodic operation of power equipment and computer work.
- Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 50 lbs.
