Job/Position DescriptionCPS FAD Unit Admin Asst IThe Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is responsible for protectingthe unprotected and#151; children, elderly, and people with disabilities and#151; from abuse, neglect, andexploitation. To learn moreabout the agency, please click here.Essential Job Functionsand#149; Performs data entry into IMPACT and other electronic programs and systems. and#149; Answersand screens telephone inquiries; takes and routes messages and records intake informationfor referral to caseworkers. and#149; Prepares and maintains statistical reports, leave and personnelrecords, case control systems, case records and related files for the unit. Functions as theunit timekeeper and will process purchase orders as directed. and#149; Types correspondence, formsnarratives, travel vouchers, meeting notes, performance evaluations, and other documents tosupport work of the unit and files related documents. and#149; Provides program and agencyinformation and/or makes referrals to other community resources. and#149; Greets visitors, respondsto general questions, and directs callers to proper location. and#149; Performs other duties asassigned and required to maintain unit operations. and#149; Promotes and demonstrates appropriaterespect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts. and#149; Attends workregularly in accordance with agency leave policy.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsNone RequiredKnowledge Skills Abilitiesand#149; Knowledge of computers. and#149; Skill in using Microsoft Works or Windows environment. and#149; Skill inworking in an office supporting several staff members. and#149; Ability to effectively handle multipleassignments in a dynamic environment.Initial Screening Criteriaand#149; Graduation from high school or equivalent and#149; One year full-time administrative support,general office, clerical, secretarial or Texas Department of Family and Protective Servicesexperience.Acceptable Substitutions: and#149; Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or universitymay be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experienceAdditional InformationAdministrative Assistants may be required to work together with DFPS caseworkers in providing supervision of children without placement (CWOP). Children can vary in age, but primarily the population that will be worked with is children that can range from 10 to 17 years of age.
