Job Title: Entry-Level Cable Technician
Description:
Our client is seeking multiple Entry-Level Cable Technicians to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and work on large-scale cabling projects within data centers. The company has an exclusive contract to build cable infrastructure throughout these facilities.
Responsibilities:
• Assist senior technicians and team leads in building out the infrastructure.
• Pull and install cables and fiber optics.
• Learn color codes and apply them accurately.
• Perform punch-downs and terminate fiber connections.
• Install cable trays and pathways.
• Construct and assemble server racks.
• Initially focus on installing cable trays and building server racks.
Job Duties:
1. Install work area outlets for floor and wall locations.
2. Route cables through data centers using appropriate methods (e.g., fish tape).
3. Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, and dress cables; determine length and slack; label cables.
4. Suspend and support cables correctly using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapezes.
5. Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required.
6. Perform fire-stopping procedures on firewalls, install sleeves, and pull cables through sleeves and core penetrations.
7. Terminate low-voltage devices.
8. Follow technical drawings and blueprints.
9. Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, etc.).
10. Adhere to and participate in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
11. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience with cable types such as CAT 5/6 and telecommunications.
• Proficiency in punch-downs, terminations, and cable pulling.
• Familiarity with installing cable trays and wiring.
• Punctuality and strong teamwork skills.
• Flexibility with work hours; willingness to work extended hours if necessary.
