Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of Child Nutrition Services Program in conformance with local, State and Federal Regulations and requirements. Expectations include working cooperatively in maintaining the food service program in an efficient and effective manner to meet nutritional needs and program acceptability of students and staff.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent. • Working towards successful completion of Arkansas Department of Education Manager's Training for Child Nutrition • Successful experience in quality food service operation with school nutrition experience preferred • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding food preparation and service. • Knowledge of basic computer software and hardware systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Commits to working in a student-centered environment
• Assist in continual improvements of the Child Nutrition Department, cooperate in planning, developing, and utilizing the school food service program to effect maxim benefits to school and community.
• Models professionalism for all Child Nutrition Staff.
• Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
• Contributes to a positive and productive work and school environment.
• Works as a team member within the child nutrition department and demonstrates leadership and vision in managing staff.
• Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies.
• Supervise and evaluate food service personnel at the direction of the Director.
• Utilize government commodities according to federal guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety.
• Submit reports and maintain records as required including daily production records.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations of sales, free, reduced and paid students.
• Collect money and maintain accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes
• Order and receive necessary food and supplies for school according to established specifications, determined by menu, volume and student needs.
• Exercise managerial skills to control labor, food, and non-food costs in the program.
• Assist with kitchen operations, including food preparation.
• Transparent and open communication with staff and child nutrition Director.
• Manage coverage of all positions in the kitchen through accurate schedules and arranging substitutes as needed
• Cooperate in all activities necessary for the best functioning of the school food service program.
• Observe safety rules and report any accidents according to District policy.
• Ability to perform duties related assigned by the Director, including but not limited to : working in extreme temperatures, bend and squat to clean kitchen equipment, standing for extended periods of time, lifting 50 pounds without assistance, and operating commercial food service equipment.
• Attend meetings, workshops, seminars as requested in order to maintain training requirements
• Perform any other duties/tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the position as assigned, including responsibilities, use of skills, duties, requirements, efforts, functions, etc, not specifically listed but necessary to support the development of the Child Nutrition Department
