The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As the Engineering Controls Manager you will oversee teams responsible for Construction Management (CM) and Project Controls (PC) for Large Capital Projects (LCAP). You will manage direct and contracted Construction Managers responsible for constructability, pre-construction planning, and field oversight. You will also manage PC specialists responsible for cost estimating, scheduling, change management and cost and schedule control. You will own the CM and PC deliverables and sub-processes within the LCAP work process, establishing performance standards and assuring work quality.

- Building a new project controls organization from the ground up, defining and implementing work processes, systems, tools, and training.
- Standardizing the work processes for constructability, construction planning, execution, and construction safety.
- Assigning Project Control and Construction Management resources to projects and monitoring performance to support operational and financial commitments. Assignees may be direct employees or contract staff.
- Collaborating with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, and other stakeholders to ensure FEL quality and project goals are met.
- Developing tools to monitor and analyze project progress, including cost analysis, cash flow forecasts, variance reports and construction safety performance to enable quick corrective actions to ensure project goals are met.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management from an accredited institution and Ten (10) years of managing or performing Construction Management (CM) or Project Controls (PC) activities including scheduling and cost estimating for complex construction projects in a private, public, government or military environment.
OR
- High School diploma/GED or Higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and fourteen (14) years of managing or performing Construction Management (CM) or Project Controls (PC) activities including scheduling and cost estimating for complex construction projects in a private, public, government or military environment.
AND
- Experience in executing capital projects within a disciplined stage-gate process in an industrial setting.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management from an accredited institution
- Fifteen (15) years of managing or performing Construction Management (CM) or Project Controls (PC) activities including scheduling and cost estimating for complex construction projects in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Experience in building teams and leading organizational change
- Proficient knowledge of industry recognized project control systems, scheduling tools, and cost management software.

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $160,284 - $195,903, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
