About the Job
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the charge capture functions within the emergency departments within MyMichigan Health. They will apply their CPT 4 coding knowledge to the coding of all ED encounters. They will also be responsible for the charge entry and balancing of these accurately coded services ensuring clean claims, quality patient accounting, and accurate assignment of APC for reimbursement. The Charge Capture Analyst must be proficient in both manual charge entry and ePoint/Lynx.
Responsibilities:- (60%)*Reviews all charts to ensure charges accurately reflect care and treatment provided by documentation. Verifies the accuracy of charges entered and makes changes as necessary.
- (20%)*Determines appropriate hierarchy of infusions and injections to code to the appropriate level of service based on documentation in patient record.
- (20%)*Communicates regularly with ED Management, nursing and physicians about the documentation guidelines.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows through on all LBT (left before treatment) and AMA patients to assure appropriate billing of services and reconciliation of statistics.
Processes all reviews and/or rejections requiring deletions MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows.

Certifications and Licensures:E/M CODER - CPC, CCS, CCSP, RHIT, OR RHIA Preferred
Required Education:High School Diploma or GED
Other Information:EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Experience in assigning injection and infusion CPT codes required. Knowledge of CPT-4 and HCPCS coding required.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing per employee health. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
