Overview
The Cardiac Sonographer plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by performing ultrasound imaging to capture the functioning of the heart and blood vessels. This position is vital in assisting healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions, providing essential information for patient care and treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities
Performing echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound procedures
Operating and maintaining ultrasound equipment
Interpreting imaging data and providing preliminary findings to physicians
Assisting in transesophageal echocardiography and stress testing
Ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures
Collaborating with cardiologists and other medical staff
Keeping accurate patient records and imaging files
Participating in quality assurance and improvement initiatives
Continuously staying updated on industry advancements and best practices
Adhering to regulatory and safety standards
Required Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field
RDMS or RDCS certification
Valid state licensure as a cardiac sonographer
Experience in performing echocardiograms and vascular ultrasounds
Proficiency in ultrasound equipment operation and maintenance
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic medical environment
Attention to detail and accuracy in imaging and reporting
Commitment to patient care and comfort
Knowledge of patient privacy and confidentiality regulations
Capability to adapt to new technologies and software
