Job Details:Duties of Cardiovascular Tech
- Assists during emergency resuscitation.
- Responsible for reviewing the accuracy of printed records prior to placing in medical record and evaluate accuracy of data.
- Performs post processing of acquired images and assures secure storage and retrieval of images.
- Set up sterile equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures demonstrating aseptic technique.
- Scrub during diagnostic and interventional procedures on the adult patient and assist as needed.
- Performs sheath removal and achieves hemostasis effectively.
- Assist with patient comfort and wellbeing before, during, and immediately following the procedure. These duties will address the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Through sampling and recording, provide data from which precise anatomic and physiologic diagnosis may be established.
- In coordination with RN, setup non-invasive monitoring -- ECG, blood pressure cuff, and pulse oximetry.
- Operates intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and other catheter based imaging modalities.
- Oversees digital imaging equipment to optimally define anatomy.
- Participates in team huddle, time-out, and all aspects of procedure as suggested for patient safety.
- In coordination with RN, performs/reviews baseline patient hemodynamic data and evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers during procedures.
- Assists as scrub tech during interventional procedures.
- Functions as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment and preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure.
- Is knowledgeable of all equipment and supplies required for each case type and where they can be obtained.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge of procedures.
- Checks physician preference for equipment required prior to each procedure.
- Communicates information with RN to ensure smooth progress of case. Observes and reports, to a nurse, changes in the patient’s condition.
- Preps access site as ordered by physician pre-procedure
- Collects necessary equipment prior to scrubbing/approaching bed side.
- Actively works to improve performance by seeking and acting on feedback from others.
- Demonstrates knowledge of patient safety standards and follows all hospital policies and procedures pertaining to patient safety.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited Radiological, Cardiovascular and/or Respiratory care program
- Experience with scrubbing into and assisting physicians with vascular procedures
- RVT or equivalent preferred, registry eligible acceptable.
- BLS/AED/ACLS training required and accepted from the American Heart Association. No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
Skills, Knowledge or Abilities
- Independent individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills required in order to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, physicians, outside agencies and other hospital staff.
- Medical terminology preferred.
- Strong computer skills a must.
- Knowledge of EPIC Electronic Medical Record, radiology scheduling and insurance authorization.
