Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard. Work conforms to local building codes. May be assigned to projects in the hospital, physician practices, or other off-site locations.
Education
High school or equivalent (GED).
Certification, Registration & Licensure
Licensure required: Valid New Hampshire Driver's license. Driving record from Department of Motor Vehicles, and proof of insurance coverage, which complies with organization and departmental Driving Policy.
Experience
Skills and experience in proper use and operation of various power tools used in Carpentry. Ability to read and interpret blue prints. Ability to lead a team. Knowledge of roof installation and correct roof materials necessary to maintain shingled hospital facilities.
Responsibilities
Creates and maintains proper documentation such as work orders and logs.
Completes work orders pertaining to Life Safety, Environment of Care, Safety and Patient Related.
Completes Preventative Maintenance Work Orders.
Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to the determination of the type of material required.
Calculates cost associated with materials and labor and determines cost responsibility, in conjunction with Maintenance Manager.
Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, shapes and assembles according to prescribed measures.
Selects specified materials such as lumber, or other products, for projects.
Fabricates and constructs cabinetry.
Builds stairs, lays out and installs partitions.
Maintains a clean environment in connection with infection control standards.
