About the Job
The Catering Banquet Manager ( Banquet Captain) helps to bring our client’s visions, for their special event, to life. You will work directly with the client, his/her vendors, the event site, and our events team in order to plan the client’s special event. As the Catering Banquet Manager, you will be the point of contact for the day of the event to ensure the vision is executed as planned. You will manage the wait staff and other vendors at the venue.
You must have a passion to serve and derive joy from transforming empty spaces into beautiful event settings. You will often juggle more than one client so you must thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a sharp eye for detail, and have a passion for getting things done right the first time. You must have a unique combination of strong people skills and strong office skills. You must also be a highly motivated, individualist personality type that enjoys working in a fun and challenging environment, and smoothly handling difficult or unexpected situations.
The Catering Banquet Manager is a full-time position that reports to the Events Manager and is responsible for:
- Understanding client's needs and specifications through client meetings.
- Conducting site visits at off-premise reception venues and clients’ homes.
- Conducting table design consultations based on client's inspiration.
- Creating banquet event orders and diagrams.
- Interacting effectively with wedding planners to fine-tune event details in order to create a satisfactory guest experience.
- Interacting effectively with all in-house departments and outside vendors in order to create a satisfactory guest experience.
- Scheduling and Managing the waitstaff for each event.
- Managing in house inventory and rental items to ensure each event has everything neccessary.
Job requirements:
- Previous event management or coordinating in a hotel, off-premise catering, or event company.
- Previous Experience as a Banquet Captain a plus.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
- Basic clerical skills to include: 40+ wpm typing, ability to create and format business letters, memorandums, and reports.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Interest in design & color a plus.
- Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Must be able to work well under stressful situations.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
