Cell Testing Technician II - Electric Power Systems
North Logan, UT
About the Job
At Electric Power Systems, Inc. (EPS), we're building the future of mobility by powering aerospace and transportation industries with smarter, safer, and more reliable energy storage solutions. Our team is passionate about pushing the boundaries of battery technology, and we're seeking individuals who are ready to contribute to this bold mission. We're currently looking for a Cell Testing Technician II to join our Energy Storage System (ESS) team and play a key role in developing and testing next-generation battery modules.
As a Cell Testing Technician II, you will be at the forefront of innovation, working with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative environment. You'll have the chance to grow your skills as you work with a dynamic team of engineers and specialists to design, execute, and troubleshoot testing for battery cells. This position offers an incredible opportunity for hands-on experience with battery systems, where your contributions will directly impact the development of energy solutions for electric aviation and advanced transportation. You'll report to the Director of Energy Storage Systems and interface with various teams across the company, including design, test, and manufacturing engineers, as well as members of business development and executive leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
Your primary responsibilities will revolve around the setup and operation of battery cell tests. You'll be expected to create test plans, operate data acquisition systems, and ensure the accurate collection of data for further analysis. In this role, you will design test fixtures, troubleshoot test setups, and collaborate closely with engineers to ensure testing runs smoothly and safely. You'll also work with battery screening specialists, analyzing data collected from testing processes and sharing insights with operations management.
Safety is a core value at EPS, and as part of your daily work, you will ensure all testing is conducted with proper safety protocols. This includes using high voltage equipment, operating in a high-fidelity lab environment, and adhering to NFPA 70E standards for electrical safety. Your attention to detail will be critical, as you will be responsible for handling sensitive equipment and data while working in environments that may require ear protection or the use of arc flash personal protective equipment.
Skills and Experience We're Looking For
We're seeking candidates with a technical degree, trade certificate, or at least 5 years of experience in a high-fidelity lab environment. You should have a strong foundation in executing mathematical equations, understanding dimensional analysis, and working with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It's also important that you have a "safety-first" mindset, as you'll be working with high voltage systems and electrical hazards. Additionally, the ability to perform tasks with a critical attention to detail and to work comfortably in a sometimes loud environment is key.
Experience with specific testing equipment like MACCOR cell testers and thermal chambers will give you a competitive edge, along with knowledge of thermal heat transfer, simple electrical circuits, and fluid mechanics. Familiarity with programming languages and certificates in electronics or automation are also highly preferred. If you've worked with high voltage systems before or have post-processing and diagnostic experience with correlating models to test data, we'd love to hear from you.
Why You'll Love Working Here
At EPS, we don't just talk about innovation - we live it. Our team thrives on collaboration, and we believe in building a supportive work environment that encourages growth and creativity. As a Cell Testing Technician II, you'll have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and contribute to groundbreaking technology that is shaping the future of energy and mobility. Not only will you be involved in the technical aspects of testing and development, but you'll also have the chance to influence the direction of exciting new projects.
In addition to competitive pay and benefits, we offer the opportunity to be part of a company that is on the cutting edge of the energy storage industry. If you're passionate about technology and safety, and if you thrive in a detail-oriented, hands-on role, then Electric Power Systems is the place for you.
