Work Schedule: 8 Hr (7:00:00 AM - 3:30:00 PM)
Summary
The Central Processing Tech Lead is Responsible for organizing, coordinating, and evaluating the operations of sterile processing, which includes decontamination, instrument and equipment assembly, sterile processing and storage, and assembly of case/supply carts. Responsible for reprocessing and distribution of reusable items throughout the hospital. Serves as a team lead, assisting in the day operations of the staff, as well as an additional resource for questions and concerns the technicians might have around the more challenging duties.

Responsibilities
· Prevents recognized safety hazards and proactively reports near misses, reporting errors and any regulatory violations.
· Identifies potential opportunities and participates collaboratively with management to make improvements.
· Participates in the collection of data to support unit-based quality initiatives, research and evidence-based activities.
· In conjunction with the manager, utilizes system wide resources to support decision making and action.
· Assists other team members to accurately complete the work of the sterile and central processing department.
· Coaches and mentors’ staff daily
· Orders and replenishes department stock supplies; inspects expiration dates and package integrity prior to stocking.
· Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and ensures proper instruments are sent to the operating room.
· Accurately decontaminates, reassembles and sterilizes all instruments and equipment according to hospital policy and procedure.
· Performs/documents biological testing on all sterilizers in the Processing Department according to hospital policy and procedure.
· Manages case cart process according to surgeon’s preference cards.
· Demonstrates the ability to provide education.
· Promotes growth and development of team members
· Provides orientation for Sterile Processing staff and OR staff to the Sterile Processing Department Collaborates with OR Unit Director, SPD manager and Periop Education Quality Coordinator on performance reviews for team members
· Other duties as assigned
Other Information
· Minimum education, High School diploma/GED, and graduated from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program
· Minimum 2 years of experience as a CPD certified technician
· Computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office, EPIC, SPM, spreadsheet, and email communication.
· One year of supervisory experience
