SUMMARY SCOPE
Performs medical assisting functions to support the provisionof care within the physician department.Interactswith patients, families, and staff members to maximize successful patientoutcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work with the public.
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Immunization and injection administration,vision & hearing, phlebotomy
Certified Medical Assisting degree orappropriate training.
CMA or RMA certification with 90 days of hire ifgraduating from an accredited school
On the job training-1 year of training withcompetency completed within that same, then CCMA certification within 90 days.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Greets and prepares patient for office visit oroutpatient procedure.
Obtains vital signs and weighs each patient.
Updates problem and medication list at eachpatient visit.
Assists in procedures requested by the medicalprovider.
Performs phlebotomy as needed.
Checks charts routinely for omissions andcompliance.
Maintains sterilization process of allinstruments.
Makes referral and prescription calls permedical providers orders.
Refilling prescriptions, per protocol and asapplicable.
Screens calls including emergency calls.
Assures that all necessary release and consent formsare signed.
Performs lab testing according to set protocolsand maintains yearly competency.
Performs look up per protocol on the MainePrescription Monitoring Program.
Performs Medication Prior Authorizations, asneeded.
Prepares electronic charts with all requestedinformation in preparation of patient encounters.
Schedules patients for procedures in OR and anyoutpatient test (x-rays, labs, etc), if applicable.
Communicate with patients via variouscommunication avenues, including secure messaging. Participates with any department qualityindicators.
Responsible to collect provider quality data asrequested.
Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklistswith duties to include inventory management, samples management, and othermonitors.
Obtains working knowledge of IMMPACT procedures,policies, performance expectations, etc. as needed.
Maintains compliance with all hospital policiesas well as compliance with all State, Federal and policies of licensing and certification.
Responsible to maintain medical record privacyand security according to hospital policies and procedures at all times.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of, andcommitment to, the hospitals mission, vision and values as well as the serviceexcellence standards while completing all tasks and responsibilities.
Provides coverage for other DECH physicianoffices when necessary.
Seeks out needed information by stayinginformed and involved by attending meetings; reading memos, policies, meetingminutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timelymanner.
Uses patient handling techniques as appropriateto the needs of the individual patient in keeping with the Safe Patient andHandling and Movement Policy.
Reliable attendance and punctuality,including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shiftwhen necessary to meet patient demands.
Performs duties in a safe manner, incompliance with all safety policies and procedures
Complies with the Code of Conduct andall appropriate policies and procedures

PHYSICAL EFFORT ENVIRONMENT
Clinical: Frequently lifts up to 35 poundsindependently. Frequently pushes/pulls100 pounds using mechanical and other assistivedevices.Walks, stands, kneels, bends most of the time. Exhibits fine motor skills and manual dexterity necessary to perform theessential job functions of the position. Visual acuity correctable to 20/20. Color vision is necessary. Normalhearing acuity.
