Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers prescribed, routine medications, treatments and PRN medications in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Observes residents for adverse reactions to medications and reports any concerns to the supervising nurse.
- Takes and records vital signs prior to administration of medications
- Documents the administration of medication in the resident’s record.
- Communicates all deviations in the delegated medication administration to the nurse.
- Assists the nurse in providing care to residents, which includes observation and reporting of resident needs.
- Prepares and stores medications in accordance with instructions of the manufacturer or pharmacist.
- Maintains neat, clean, and orderly medication room(s) and medication cart(s).
Required Education/Qualifications
An active Medication Aide Certification issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
