Summary
Assists Campus Nurse with vital signs, scheduling and transporting clients to off-campus service providers, record keeping, and providing basic care for patients confined to the Health Center due to medical needs
Primary Performance Objectives
· Collaborates with the Campus Nurse to provide preventive and acute care for residents in a manner consistent with Epworth's mission, policy and procedures, and relevant SC state regulations and national requirements
· Under the supervision of the Campus Nurse, provides appropriate support to residential staff within areas of qualification, such as universal precautions and medication administration
· Provides logistical support in order to meet the health needs of residents via effective scheduling of outside providers and the provision of transportation to and from health related appointments
· Assumes primary responsibility for maintaining the health facility in a manner required by SC state and local regulations
· Functions collaboratively with all Epworth staff to systematically and effectively meet the health needs of residents
Job Task Summary
· Transport clients to appointments, remain in the doctor's office while being seen and communicate professionally with the doctor and office staff. Take detailed notes and report everything back to Epworth nurse and document in client database system(s).
· Coordinate on campus pediatrician visit by prepping the chart and other paperwork and calling patients into exam rooms and taking vital signs for the nurse.
· Provides first aid to clients and others per standing protocols
· Assists in-patients with meals, bathing, and grooming as needed
· Supervises clients who are unable to attend school due to illness
· Supervises groups of clients in the health center for exams and during other approved visits
· Keep patient and exam rooms clean and ready for admissions
· Refills and restocks medications at public school.
· Spend the night with in-patients as needed
· Assists with answering the phones
· Dusts, sweeps, mops, clean bathrooms, empty trashcans and laundry as needed and according to cleaning schedules
· Maintains privacy and confidentiality of resident and staff health information in a manner consistent with SC state and federal requirements
· Assists nurse in administering resident and employee drug screens
· Assists nurse with reading the results of the TB test for employees, as applicable
· Enters medicines and all medical information into the client database system(s)
· Schedules medical, dental, and vision appointments within established deadlines
· Requests and delivers prescription refills from the pharmacy
· Assists with completion of exams of new admissions within established deadlines
· Assists with applying for insurance coverage for clients, as applicable
· Purchase medical supplies for Health Center and cottages
· Participate as appropriate in the PQI process as assigned

Qualifications
· Licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant
· Certification in CPR and First Aid
· Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church
· Must be able to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry
