We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Permanent Certified Occupancy Specialist for our Section 8 team in our Accounting + Finance department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced, challenging and rewarding environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling occupancy and tax credit certificates, with a deep understanding of federal and state program regulations and eligibility requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the Section 8 program, including application, certification, and recertification processes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to Section 8 and other affordable housing programs.
- Conduct annual and interim recertifications of tenant income and composition, while ensuring compliance with HUD regulations and property policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Section 8 participants.
- Provide guidance and support to property management staff regarding occupancy issues.
- Handle all tenant communication and correspondence related to Section 8 occupancy.
- Work closely with the Accounting + Finance team to ensure accurate reporting and record-keeping.
- Stay updated on changes in HUD regulations and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Attend relevant training and professional development sessions to enhance job performance and stay current with industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Occupancy Specialist in the Accounting + Finance industry.
- Must hold Occupancy Specialist, UD Occupancy Specialist, and Tax Credit Specialist Certificates.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations.
- In-depth understanding of federal and state program regulations and eligibility requirements, including the Code of Federal Regulations.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using computer software and online systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality.
