ThecertifiedoccupationaltherapyassistantcontractedthroughtheOrganizationisresponsibletotheregistered occupational therapist that is responsible for the implementation of standards of care for occupational therapy services and for adherence to all conditions outlined in the Service Agreement.The certified occupational therapy assistant performs only those services planned, delegated, and supervised by the registered occupational therapist.
- Participates in the ongoing evaluation of patient’s functional status (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination,writtenandverbalcommunicationskills,selfcareability,workcapacity,etc.)asdelegatedby the registered occupational therapist.Participates in the ongoing evaluation of the home environment for hazards or barriers to more independent living as delegated by the registered occupational therapist.
- Participatesinteachingnewskillsorretrainingpatientsinoncefamiliar dailyactivitiesthathavebeenlost due to illness or injury, in accordance with organization policy.
- Maintainsappropriateclinicalrecords,clinicalnotes,andreportstotheregisteredoccupationaltherapistany changes in the patient’s condition.
- SubmitsclinicaldocumentationinaccordancewithOrganizationpolicy.
- Follows treatment program and goals for improved patient function as established by the registered occupationaltherapist.Documentspatient’sresponsetotreatmentplanandprogresstowardestablished goals.
- Maintainscontact/communicationwithotherpersonnelinvolvedinthepatient’scaretopromotecoordinated, efficient care.Documents such communication in accordance with Organization policy.
- Attendsandcontributestoinservices,caseconferences,andothermeetingsasrequiredbyOrganization policy to ensure coordinated and comprehensive plans of care for the patients of the Organization.
- Identifiespatientandfamily/caregiver needsforotherhomecareservices.Consultswiththesupervising registered occupational therapist and assists with necessary referrals, as appropriate.
- Participatesininstructingpatient’sfamily/caregiverandotherOrganizationhealthcarepersonnelinpatient’s treatment regime as delegated by the registered occupational therapist.
- Is supervised by the registered occupational therapist no less than every thirty days.Documentation in the clinicalrecordwillreflectongoingcommunicationbetweentheregisteredoccupationaltherapistandcertified occupational therapy assistant, the patient’s condition, the patient’s response to services provided by the assistant, any need to change the plan of care, and patient outcomes.
- Must adhere to the company attendance and reliability guidelines, which are an essential function of the job to ensure quality, and consistent patient care.
Qualifications:
- GraduateofanoccupationaltherapyassistantcurriculumaccreditedbytheAmericanOccupationalTherapy Association.
- CertifiedwiththeNationalCertificationExaminationoftheAmericanOccupational Therapy Association.
- LicensedasanoccupationaltherapyassistantbytheCaliforniaBoardofOccupationalTherapy.
- Aminimumofone(1)yearofclinicalexperienceasacertifiedoccupationaltherapyassistant.
- Demonstratesgoodverbalandwrittencommunication,andorganizationskills.
- PossessesandmaintainscurrentCPRcertification.
- Licenseddriverwithautomobilethatisingoodworkingorderandinsuredinaccordancewiththe organization requirements.
