We are looking for a Certified Surgical Technician with the Surgery Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
Location: Napa, CA
Work Schedule: On call/Per diem
Shift: 8 hour Variable (Days)
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the OR RN Circulator, assists the medical and nursing staff in the care of the patient in the OR. The Surgery Technician II’s primary
function is the scrub person role in the Surgical Suites and other clinical areas.
Skills:
- Good verbal communication skills
- Able to follow oral and written instructions
- Able to change priorities as the unit workload changes, working overtime as needed
- Basic competencies regarding steam sterilization of surgical instruments by the “flash method”
- Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, self-motivation, and effective time management
- Knowledgeable of the principles of asepsis
- Knowledgeable of medical center policy on counting procedures for the OR
- Familiar with sterilization methods for various equipment and instruments
- Ability to work under stress and pressure due to rapid changes in work conditions
- Basic computer skills
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of Surgical Technology program
License / Certification:
- Current Surgical Technician Certification
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification
Preferred Position Qualifications:
- Two (2) years as Surgical Technician in a main Operating Room
