Intertek is searching for an Associate Chemist to join our Chemicals & Pharmaceuticalsteam in our Trexlertown, PA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Chemical analysis via instrumental techniques!
The Associate Chemist is responsible for assisting Chemists and Scientists in setting up and running testing on chemicals by analytical instrumental analysis. They will have a key role in sample preparation, analysis and data evaluation in an effort to assist our clients by proving reliable results and solutions to for their technical needs.
What you'll do:
- Plans, performs and completes projects under direct supervision
- Demonstrates proficiency in setting up, adjusting, operating and calibrating laboratory equipment and instruments - may include some of the following, but not limited to the following: • HPLC • GC • Titration • NMR • KF • FT-IR • LOD • UV/Vis • ICP
- Independently performs lab tests to determine physical and chemical characteristics
- Performs data analysis
- May begin doing some technical assessment
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- BA/BS Chemistry, Biology or related scientific degree
- 2-4 years of related industry experience in an analytical laboratory
- Knowledge of laboratory safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and the disposal of hazardous agents/reagents, chemicals and materials
- Organization, communication and analytical skills
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical and business information, both oral and written to others, including co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, clients, and vendors
