Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Chemistryat Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a non-tenure track assistant professor position in Physical Chemistry. Position Responsibilities: Primaryresponsibilities will include the management, supervision and instruction ofthe undergraduate teaching laboratories and the instruction of the associated undergraduatechemistry course. For Physical Chemistry, the position will befor the physical chemistry laboratories and course (CHEZ313, CHEZ315; CHEM315). Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral experience is encouraged We seek applicants who areexcited about teaching chemistry to a diverse pool of undergraduate studentsand working with graduate student teaching assistants (TAs) to createindependent thinkers capable of addressing and solving the next generation of scientificand technological problems. Applicants must be willing to foster a supportiveand inclusive learning environment, participate in curriculum development, and effectivelydeliver course content. This renewable instructional position bring numerousopportunities for training undergraduate and graduate students, working onstudent’s independent research projects, and engaging with research facultywith a state-of-the-art instrumentation facility. The position is at the level of an assistant professor and there are university-wideprocedures in place for faculty promotion to associate and then full professor. Our salaries are competitive and opportunitiesto teach in the summer are also possible. Physical chemists with applied industrial or government experiences are also encouraged to apply.
