Position Overview
The Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF) drives all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, and ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and strategic goals. The Chief Development Officer is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the development team's operations, including budgetary oversight, supervision of staff, and implementation of strategies for the fundraising and marketing efforts.
The CDO works closely with the board of directors and executive leadership to design and implement strategies that ensure long-term financial sustainability and foster relationships with key stakeholders. The CDO will act as the face of ACCF in the community, representing the organization at events, with donors, and within philanthropic networks while leading major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns.

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual and major gifts from individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations to ensure the financial sustainability of ACCF.
- Develop and execute a robust planned giving program, including legacy gifts and bequests, to secure long-term financial commitments.
- Lead capital campaigns and major fundraising initiatives to support organizational growth and strategic projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals while managing a portfolio of major gift donors.
- Utilize data and analytics to drive donor segmentation, enhance fundraising strategies, and measure the effectiveness of development activities.
- Oversee the organization's marketing and public relations efforts, including managing outsourced vendors and ensuring alignment with ACCF's mission and branding.
- Manage all fundraising events, ensuring they meet revenue goals and align with organizational strategy while overseeing staff responsible for planning and execution.
- Lead the Annual Fund campaign, managing the letter-writing appeal, and working closely with Annual Fund Ambassadors to engage the community and secure donations.
- Oversee the Ambassador Council and all related activities, ensuring their efforts support fundraising and raise awareness of ACCF's mission.
- Represent the organization at community events, public speaking engagements, and stakeholder meetings; manage agency-wide tours and donor-related activities.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of the development team, providing ongoing feedback, performance management, and professional development.
- Collaborate with the board and executive leadership to develop comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with the organization's mission and financial goals.
- Develop and monitor long-term funding strategies, including major gifts, annual campaigns, planned giving, and capital campaigns to ensure financial viability.
- Create and manage annual operating plans that support the organization's strategic direction and budgetary goals. Provide timely and accurate reporting on fundraising performance and financial status to the CEO and board of directors.

Education & Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or a related field is required.
· Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MPA, or a similar advanced degree) is preferred.
· Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization (preferred but not required)
- Experience preferred in developing and managing planned giving programs.

- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and mentor high-performing teams in fundraising and marketing.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to balance delegation and execution, ensuring the development team's success.
- Proficiency in utilizing fundraising software, data analytics, and CRM systems to drive successful development initiatives.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions.
- High ethical standards with a commitment to donor stewardship and confidentiality.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and donor meetings.
- Graduate degree in a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Essential Physical Abilities
· Must be able to utilize a computer for extended periods of time
· Must be able to endure repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement while operating office equipment
· Requires clarity of vision at close distances while operating a computer
