Job Description:
General Description of the Position: This position is responsible for the well-being of children, families, and staff; Maintaining compliance with State Minimum Standard Rules, State and Federal Agencies, and Center policies; responsible for the daily operation of the Center; communication with parents, staff, and all government agencies; ensures a safe and educational environment for children; manage all staff; manage curriculum; responsible for overall image of the Center; works under the direction of the owner of the Center.
Program Requirements:
General Requirements for Program:
- Obtains appropriate TDFPS/Kids Laughing & Learning documentation for staff file.
- Maintains required training hours and certifications.
- Reports absence/tardiness as outlined in staff handbook.
- Handles emergencies calmly and effectively.
- Maintains professional relationships with parents, staff, and children.
- Adapts to program changes (schedules, classroom location, crisis situations, etc.) and takes initiative to locate appropriate alternatives to resume activities.
Responsible for compliance and understanding of program guidelines and TDFPS.
General Work Habits:
- Arrives promptly as scheduled.
- Responsible in job duties.
- Alert about health and safety matters.
Maintain a positive attitude
Responsibilities for Operation of Center:
Administrative:
- Meet and greet parents, visitors, children, and staff.
- Ensure compliance at all times with all local, state, and federal agencies.
- Point person for all local, state, and federal agencies.
- Ensure all inspections are current and fees are paid.
- Set up appointments as needed.
- Develop marketing plan.
- Works with owner for financial responsibilities.
- Upkeep of past due parent accounts.
- Oversees equipment and supply purchases.
- Works with owner to ensure maintenance of facility and equipment.
- Update policies as needed.
- Computer literate.
- Must be familiar with computer program used.
Staff:
- Supervision of all staff.
- Oversee upkeep of child and staff files.
- Oversee upkeep of staff files and training requirements.
- Monthly staff meetings.
- Staff schedules and time/off requests.
- Ensure compliance for staff background checks.
- Ensure new staff orientation.
- Staff motivation.
- Staff discipline.
- Interview and hire all staff.
Curriculum:
- Ensure appropriate curriculum the meets the needs for all ages and meets State requirements.
Responsible for Positive Child, Parent, and Staff Interaction:
Models and implements positive and appropriate interaction with children, parents, staff etc.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Children:
- Appropriate role model.
- Flexible and responsive to children’s needs.
- Friendly, warm and affectionate.
- Eye to eye interaction.
- Use appropriate voice.
- Show respect for individuals.
- Encourage independence and self-help.
- Uses strategies to prevent misbehavior through positive guidance and redirection of activities.
- Avoid stereotyping and labeling.
- Reinforces positive behavior.
- Works with staff about concerns/problems with children before talking to the parents.
- Assists staff when talking with parents about child concerns.
Parents:
- Communicates with parents in a friendly manner.
- Responsible for written communication.
- Available and approachable with parents.
- Listen and respond to parents.
- Tactful with negative information.
- Respect for those from diverse backgrounds.
- Encourage parent involvement in center activities and events.
Staff:
- Promotes and maintains good rapport and respectful working relationships with other staff members.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Avoid gossip.
- Team leader.
Appearance and Facility Needs:
- Accountable for the cleanliness of the indoor/outdoor areas of the center.
Professionalism:
- Accepts suggestions for improvements and demonstrates flexibility with a willingness to consider new ideas, maintaining a learning attitude.
- Uses sound judgment in fulfilling job responsibilities as a representative of Kids’ Laughing & Learning.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Ability to work regular hours.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds.
- Must be physically able to react appropriately and immediately to unexpected circumstances.
- Must be able to stoop to interact on child’s level.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with children in the classroom and on the playground.
Mental Demands:
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and sympathize with families.
- Ability to ensure personal accountability.
