About being our Civil Engineer Designer - Site/Land Development
As a Civil Engineer Designer (CED), supporting our Site/Land Development Engineering Team in our downtown Los Angeles, CA office at Psomas, you will utilize your education and experience to contribute work performed on Site/Land Development and Public Works projects while working in a team-oriented setting and interacting with clients. We are a dynamic group of seasoned professionals and as part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on technology-driven high profile projects that prioritize sustainability.
Responsibility Highlights for our Civil Engineer Designer - Site/Land Development
- Work under close supervision, providing support to a project team on a broad range of projects in residential, municipal or commercial sites
- Help with the development of projects and conventional aspects of Engineering
- Research and analyses hydraulics, hydrology, water/sewer/drainage, street design, and grading
- Support the development of technical reports, calculations, cost/quantity estimates, and specifications
- Calculate earthwork/retaining wall grades
- Assist with design of grading/drainage, hydraulics, hydrology, water, sewer, and storm drain using AutoCAD and Civil3D software
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions
- Support other team members as needed
- Perform field verifications and participate in site visits and meetings
Minimum Qualifications to be our Civil Engineer Designer - Site/Land Development
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in civil engineering and design (entry level candidates with ideal qualifications may also be considered)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Demonstrating an organized work approach and willingness to ask questions
- Ability to adapt with changing priorities
- Self-motivated to work on individual tasks and in a team environment
- Must be able to communicate with verbal and written clarity
Preferred Qualifications for our Civil Engineer Designer - Site/Land Development
- Knowledge of water quality, SWPPP, and TMDL
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D
- Experience using MicroStation
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software
- Experience using GIS software for data processing and analyses
- EIT Certification (or can obtain within 2 years of hire)
- ENV SP (or can obtain within 2 years of hire)
