Civil / Highway Transportation Engineer - VHB

ABOUT THE POSITION

Civil/Highway Transportation Engineer | Hybrid | Albany, NY

VHB's Albany, New York office is seeking strong Civil Engineer who is passionate about working on innovative transportation engineering projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and growing team, and tackle NY's most complex highway and roadways projects. Experience working with state and local agencies is highly desired.

Responsibilities

VHB is seeking an individual to work within a team of highly motivated engineers to produce fully coordinated plans, specifications, and deliverables. This may include:

• Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects including development of geometric horizontal and vertical layout, grading and drainage design, and utilities layout
• Preparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specifications
• Development of 3D modeling for conceptual roadway alignments
• Temporary traffic control development
• Typical section development and pavement design
• Preparation of right-of-way and easement plans
• Coordination with design team, clients, subconsultants, and stakeholders
• Construction support services (review of submittals and RFIs)

Skills and Attributes

• Knowledge of the policies, procedures and design standards of local and state agencies (NYSDOT)
• Working knowledge of programs such as Civil3D, Open Roads, and Hydro CAD is a plus
• Experience in Design Build or other Alternative Delivery contracts a plus
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
• Team oriented and motivated to lead/mentor junior staff
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of civil transportation design engineering experience required
• 8-11 years of civil transportation design engineering experience preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation required
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
• Master’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
• PE license required

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Albany, New York is $83,000-127,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
