About the Job
Our Client is seeking to hire a civil/structural engineer to assist with engineering/design and management of projects in the industrial manufacturing and petrochemical markets. Position will be based in Houston, Texas
Major responsibilities include the following:
• Perform Civil and Structural Engineering tasks on a project-specific basis along with development and maintenance of the Summit’s Engineering Standards and Templates.
• Structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and foundations. Prepare/Review design calculations and check calculations. Development of calculation templates and reports for delivery to clients.
• Assist project manager in development of Design Basis and Scope of Work documents for specific projects and clients.
• Develop project schedules and budgets, and maintain progress updates with Engineering and Design Team • Work closely with Company’s Project Management Team and Construction/Field Operations to strategize on best project execution plan.
• Attend client meetings and maintain communication with clients on Engineering progress and issues.
• Coordinate with Structural Designers in the development and review of civil/structural design drawings, specifications, and submittal packages. Ensure conformance to client standards and applicable federal, state and local ordinances.
• Provide technical support during permitting and construction of projects. Prepare regulatory agency submittal documents and manage agency communications and responses.
• Evaluate existing structures if required for project.
Minimum candidate requirements include:
• Bachelor of science degree in civil or structural engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience performing structural engineering tasks, preferably on industrial projects
• Minimum 2 years of experience performing project engineering roles, including developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets
• Proficiency using structural analysis software, either STAAD.Pro or RISA-3d • High proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, and to function in a team setting
