POSITION – Two (2) Civil / Structural Inspectors, starting immediately.
LOCATION - Reporting to the Engineer of Construction for PORTS, one (1) position at Port Ivory and one (1) position at Port Newark.
SCOPE – Construction Management and Inspection Services associated with structural pile and concrete repairs. Occasionally provide Construction Management Services associated with civil infrastructure-based work.
REQUIREMENTS – Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff, PA tenants, and contractors. Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised of issues. Prepare estimates of extra work. Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer.
• Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering. Structural Preferred.
• Minimum 10-years’ experience inspecting structural construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
• Minimum 3-years’ experience inspecting civil construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $2 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
• Ability to pass a Federal Security Background Check and obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) to work in a maritime environment as required by the Department of Homeland Security.
• Valid Driver's license required.
• Night and weekend shifts are required.
• Trained in fall protection, trench excavation, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 30-hr OSHA construction safety training.
• Any associated Structural Certifications are a plus.
PAY RATE: $50.00-$70.00/Hourly Salary. Actual compensation will depend on the individual’s qualifications, education, skills, and experience.
