CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT

SUMMARY
TheCivil Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations, general safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, commissioning, coordination with other superintendent and project leaders on the jobsite.
This position reports to the Director of Projects or another senior management personnel that the CEO may designate. This position may be expected to travel at least 75%, or as needed for the project.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs solar/construction personnel and/or installation subcontractors to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications;
- Coordination of personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules;
- Support the team with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for activities;
- Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action;
- Follow and implement the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policy;
- Identify welding certification, training and experience appropriate for assignment scope;
- Coordinate and implement resourcesand activities necessary to maintaina safe and quality execution;
- Assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance.
- Coordination with subcontractors on civil techniques and requirements
- Advice site teams on equipment required to build Civil scope
- Identify testing required per projects scope of work on roads compaction and fence
- Communication with engineering parties to meet civilrequirements
- Manage manpower needed to complete project assignment
- Maintain and supervise tool room and keep adequate storage
- Coordination with procurement to order civil material
- Superintendents must train crews on installation activities
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
- Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience supporting the constructions of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects
- Solar PV or wind power project experience, preferred
- Willingness to travel and relocate from project to project
- Excellent skills in MS Project or comparable project management tool, and possess strong technical aptitude, including knowledge of software development methodologies and processes
- Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience reviewing mechanical manuals of installation and design technical packages
- Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- May have to interact with Owner’s Field Representative and outside testing agencies
- Experience operating construction equipment and surveying equipment
- Knowledge of installation methods for the different civil systems in the industry
EXAMPLES OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Body Position: frequently remains standing and moving up to 90% of the time in a 8-10 hour work day
- if operating equipment, be able to enter and exit equipment up to 90% of the time in a 8-10 hour work day
- Move/Traverse: frequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk
- Carry Weight: frequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 50 pounds
- Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far
- Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office/equipment/trenches upper and lower
- Travel: up to 75% as needed
