YOUR OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for an experienced Climate Resiliency Project Manager to execute and deliver resiliency projects and contribute to the rapid growth of this service. You will be working with seasoned Resiliency professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be a key to our success.
You'll be leading teams to deliver vulnerability assessments, adaptation planning and resilient design tasks / projects for a wide array of projects. These projects often include enhancement of natural or manmade blue and green infrastructure - creating sustainable solutions across many industries resulting in long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits.
Your work will include ecosystem restoration, climate risk assessments, climate adaptation and resiliency, disaster risk reduction, ecological engineering, coastal engineering, flood attenuation, flood damage reduction, natural resources management and conservation, and sustainable development. You will be helping to protect the built environment through climate change adaptation solutions around streams, rivers, estuaries, lakes and coasts.
This position can be based in Boston, Worcester, Springfield or Rocky Hill.
DO YOU HAVE
- Experience planning and implementing projects that enhance natural or manmade blue and green infrastructure and create sustainable community solutions resulting in long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits
- Experience in ecosystem restoration, climate risk assessments, climate adaptation and resiliency, disaster risk reduction, ecological engineering, flood attenuation, flood damage reduction, natural resources management and conservation, and sustainable development
- A broad knowledge base of ecological systems, water resources, coastal systems, and climate resiliency planning, vulnerability, design, and public policy
- Climate change risk/resiliency expertise and experience working with municipal/public agencies and their infrastructure - traditional and non-traditional, man-made and natural
- Experience with state/regional climate adaptation and resiliency programs and agencies
- Working knowledge of FEMA programs, including Pre-Disaster Grant Program/BRIC Program, FEMA Flood Insurance Program; working knowledge of grant programs including HMA, HMGP, FMA and CDBG-DR, NOAA/NFWF Resiliency programs, and experience with relevant FEMA and NOAA tools (e.g., Resiliency Analysis and Planning Tool, National Risk Index)
- Sustainability credentials and experience with coastal resiliency program development and project implementation
CAN YOU
- Lead the execution of research, analytic, design, and stakeholder engagement tasks with an emphasis in climate resiliency and adaptation.
- Effectively manage project/task schedules, resources, and budgets.
- Lead the production of high quality deliverable work products.
- Carry out quality reviews of deliverables produced by others.
- Mentor junior staff in the proper planning and execution of project tasks.
- Manage and effectively participate in teams consisting of in-house staff and external partners.
- Identify and draw on expertise from multiple disciplines, including planning, natural and social sciences, engineering, and architecture, to solve technical problems.
- Maintain regular and constructive communication with clients and project team members.
- Establish and maintain relationships with current and potential clients and teaming partners.
- Develop project/task technical approaches, scopes, and fees for proposals.
- Contribute to the visibility of Kleinfelder staff, clients, and projects through participation in professional organizations and external events.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 10+ years of professional experience in engineering (at least 3+ years managing engineering / planning projects)
- Demonstrated knowledge of climate change risk/resiliency subject matter and experience applying it in projects.
- Understanding of climate resiliency / sustainability needs on the East Coast and/or Great Lakes, with a focus on land use strategy, coastal resiliency, maritime/riverine infrastructure development, utility sustainability and vulnerability
- Ability to effectively communicate resiliency design concepts to clients, participating in project scoping and pricing activities and proposal presentations, and coordinating with clients to ensure an ongoing positive relationship
- Experience leading tasks/projects, managing budgets and schedules for successful project execution.
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
Education: BS, MS in engineering or associated technical field.
Preferred Credentials: PE in Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain license by reciprocity within 6 months after date of hire.
