Overview
The Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence and Department of Psychology at Utah State University in Logan, UT are seeking a child and adolescent psychiatrist who will contribute to interdisciplinary care of children and adolescents. The hired individual will provide psychiatry services to clients of the Sorenson Center and engage interdisciplinary work with other providers to insure coordinated care of clients. The hired individual may also provide supervision to trainees completing rotations in the Sorenson Center. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024, although an earlier or later start date is possible.
Located on the main campus in Logan, Utah, this is a 1.0 FTE term appointment, 12-month fiscal year position. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled. This position is not eligible for full time telehealth work but some telework is included in the position. The individual hired into this position may be eligible for up to $20,000 a year in Utah tax credits. See for more information. The position is contingent on a successful background check.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychiatric care to children and adolescents. Such care will include medication management as well as brief counseling when needed. Patient visits will be primary conducted in person but, based on patient need, telehealth visits will also be provided.
* Collaborate with other clinicians (including Psychologists, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Clinical Mental Health Counselors, Audiologists, Speech Language Pathologists, and Behavior Analysts) in the Sorenson Center to provide integrated care to youth who are being seen across subspecialties within the Sorenson Center.
* Provide supervision, as appropriate, to students / trainees. This may include supervision to residents, medical students, and nurse practitioner trainees from other institutions as well as pre-professional students at USU interested in learning more about the field of Psychiatry.
* Teaching opportunities in the Department of Psychology are negotiable based on interest and need.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* A medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
* Board Eligible / Board Certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
* A clinical practice focus on child / adolescent Psychiatry
* Licensure in Utah (or eligibility for licensure) as a medical doctor
* Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a diverse and inclusive team setting
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in an interdisciplinary health care setting
