The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is offering multiple Adjunct Clinical Postdoctoral Associate positions for the 2025-2026 academic year. The postdoctoral position offers advanced training in a variety of areas related to the health service field of psychology. Postdoctoral associates receive advanced training in university counseling services. The postdoctoral program currently offers generalists positions with the possibility for additional specialization in four major areas: (1) Individual and Cultural Diversity Competency (2) Intensive Support (Suicide Prevention and Intervention), (3) Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention and Intervention, and (4) Psychological Assessment. Program development opportunities may be available, working alongside the program coordinators for these areas. The CWC training program adheres to the American Psychological Association’s profession-wide competency of individual and cultural diversity along with the mental health code of ethics and state laws and rules. We believe that this training is vital to all parts of counselor development and competence and thus, is incorporated into all areas of supervision, training seminars, evaluations, and professional activities. The training program is also committed to cultivating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning by providing clinical postdoctoral associates with an appropriate blend of support and challenge. Postdoctoral associates are treated as early career professionals and as such, are given a great deal of autonomy and responsibility. Simultaneously, postdoctoral associates will receive the professional support necessary to allow for their continued professional development. Postdoctoral associates will be expected to fulfill the multiple roles of a university counseling center clinician, which includes counseling services (individual, couples, and/or group counseling), assessment, crisis intervention, referral, consultation, outreach, supervision of student trainees, participation in staff meetings and training seminars, and timely completion of necessary administrative functions. 2 hours of face-to-face individual supervision weekly and will be provided with various professional development opportunities. The 12-month 2000-hour (with 900 hours in activities related to direct client contact) positions have been designed to meet the requirements for licensure in the State of Florida. Salary is $62,000 for 12 months. About the Counseling and Wellness Center Mental health services at the University of Florida have historically held a strong importance and distinction in the campus community. The CWC is one of the oldest counseling centers in the country, established in 1931. The CWC is a vibrant, multidisciplinary, diverse, and creative center, actively engaged in the advancement of compassionate psychological services, outreach, and training. The CWC is a dynamic part of the Division of Student Life and is highly utilized by students and other campus constituents seeking a variety of mental health services. Our staff consists of 57 counselors in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, and counselor education. In addition, the psychiatry staff of the Student Health Care Center is available for collaboration and consultation. CWC is home to a large training program for graduate students in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education and a doctoral psychology internship accredited by the American Psychological Association. Members of our staff are collegial, engaged, and share a passion for working in collegiate mental health. The CWC is a learning organization as clinical service, training, outreach, and professional development are informed by research, local data, and benchmarking with national trends and peer institutions.
