Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is looking for a full time Clinical Services Coordinator to join our Lexington, KY team! The Clinical Services Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for activity related to the procurement of organs and tissues for transplantation, medical education and research. These duties include donor identification and management, organ placement, family counseling, public and professional education and associated administrative duties.
Considerable travel is required. Considerable "on call" responsibility.
Specific duties may include:
- Accepts "on call" responsibilities as determined by the management staff
- Performs potential donor evaluation via phone or on site as indicated. Coordinates on site evaluation with hospital staff, consulting physicians and director on-call as appropriate
- Provides appropriate support and management of brain-dead donors in accordance with established protocols
- Consults the appropriate intensivist, Medical Director or the director on call as needed
- Performs organ allocation and placement utilizing DonorNet electronic notification, in accordance with KODA and UNOS policy as indicated
- Coordinates the activities of the surgical recovery team(s)
- Participates in post-donor review with peers and director. Develops a revised action plan as needed
- Prepares and submits appropriate referral and donor paperwork for KODA monitoring and tracking
- Maintains donor supplies and equipment to ensure adequate preparation, availability and supply
- Participates in local, regional and national research studies as assigned
- Participates in staff education and training as assigned
- Participates in providing input to the resolution of management and organizational issues as requested
Minimum Qualifications for this position are as follows:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field or Associate's degree with four years of experience.
- CTPC certification to be obtained within one year of meeting CTPC minimum eligibility requirements.
Preferred:
- Two years of healthcare experience in a critical care setting.
