Overview:
Provides supervisory oversight to the Medical Assistants and Phlebotomists in the practice and functions, when necessary, as a member of the Medical Assistant team of the Internal Medicine and Family Practice physicians in the outpatient setting.
Responsibilities:Daily Duties:
- Manage the staff schedule for all the PCP staff to include PTO requests and tardy coverage for both clinical and administrative departments
- Audits for all workflows
- Daily rounds through the clinic to ensure all staff are in the right place and performing all daily tasks
- Work alongside the Manager and Director of Operations to ensure the center always has supervisory support
- Meet weekly with the Manager to discuss the week ahead and center issues
- Provide medical assistant coverage as needed
- Ensure the facility is stocked with all clinical supplies
- Respond to patient complaints
- Interviewing clinical staff
- Provide coverage as needed
Monthly Duties:
- Organize training sessions to ensure everyone is performing to the expectation of their position.
- Orient new staff as needed to include specialty staff
- Work with the Manager and Director of Operations to create quality initiative goals and train all clinical and administrative staff
- Schedule in-services as needed for staff to support our clinical quality initiatives
- Work with the Manager and Director of Operations to create new processes and workflows as needed
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Education and Work Experience:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Three years experience in a medical office setting is required. Other healthcare experience will be considered.
- 3 Years, proven experience in supervisory role is preferred.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- License Requirements:
- Documentation of certification from an accredited medical assistant training program is preferred.
- Certification Requirements:
- CPR certification is preferred.

- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
- Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Other Requirements:
- Must possess skills in telephone, fax machine, copier, personal computer and peripherals, EKG machine and other medical equipment as required by the practice.
- Must be able to perform, teach and supervise correct techniques for performing venipuncture, holter monitor application and EKG, bone densitometry, Bio Z, spirometry, therapeutic phlebotomy, CPR, administration of injectibles, finger stick glucometry, self-injection technique, ear canal irrigation, IV’s, basic diabetic education, breast self-exam, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, and assisting physicians in emergency situations including cardiac arrest.
- Uses time efficiently.
- Maintains awareness of budgetary issues and actively participates in efforts to control expenses.
- Works effectively with available resources to meet deadlines and enhance performance.
- Monitors supply stocks, maintains exam room equipment and lab equipment, stocks daily and orders supplies from designated vendor weekly.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the practice operations and related policies.
