About the Job
Job Summary/Objective:
- The Boundary Spanner is a staff reporting to the Operations Director. The Boundary Spanner will be responsible for coordinating and supporting connections existing between the CMH and local and regional justice system partners. These include Calhoun County specialty courts, Calhoun County Jail, all Law Enforcement entities within Calhoun County, as well as state organizations including jail deferral and diversion programs.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Hold and facilitate meetings between partnering organizations.
- Create agenda
- Identify action items.
- Bring in expertise regarding accessing behavioral health resources.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and management of program participation for jail diversion including:
- Jail diversion
- Mental Health and Substance Use Specialty Courts
- Prepare reports for Summit Pointe regarding jail diversion outcomes.
- Community Outreach
- Increase education and awareness opportunities for community partners.
- Work with internal staff at Summit Pointe to increase awareness and understanding of legal system requirements.
- Coordinate reporting on services for mental health and substance use courts.
- Work Collaboratively with Clinical Programs to facilitate access to services and ensure customers transition successfully from the justice system to behavioral health programming.
Qualifications:
Educational
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social work or related field.
- Licensure in the State of Michigan as a Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Bachelor’s Social Worker (LBSW) or Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in working with mental health professionals such as social work, psychology, psychiatry, substance use or recovery, etc.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance expectations as defined by the Calhoun County Jail.
- Experience with facilitating projects and workgroups with multi-disciplinary teams and organizations.
- Three years’ experience in community relations or working in a position which required communicating with consumers.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational, communication, computer, analytical and problem-solving skills. Shall be self-directed and resourceful
Trauma Informed System of Care:
A trauma-informed approach to service delivery emphasizes physical and emotional safety, choice, empowerment, and trustworthiness for customers. The impact of trauma is broad and touches many life domains. Participation is mandatory for activities required for Summit Pointe to become a “Trauma Informed System of Care.”
Physical Requirements:
- Professional office environment that generates noise from computer equipment/peripherals.
- Possible exposure to health risks (violence and infectious diseases).
- Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 25 lbs.
- May be required to work variable hours/shifts.
