Job Summary/Objective:
Provides outpatient therapy, psychotherapy and counseling for individuals, families, couples, or groups. Therapy may be provided in group or individual settings with implementation of treatment activity designed to reduce maladaptive behaviors, maximize behavioral self-control, or restore normalized psychological functioning, reality orientation, re-motivation, and emotional adjustment, thus enabling improved functioning and more appropriate interpersonal and social relationships.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Utilizes evidence-based treatments within their scope of practice.
- Acts as a liaison within the community to ensure continuum of care and support for customers.
- May act as a clinical resource for agency teams and conduct educational presentations.
- Treatment is provided within clinic settings and may occur within community settings (including jail).
- Therapeutic supports are provided as outlined in the individualized plan of service based on person-centered planning and utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Maintains record compliance within agency requirements and standard utilizing electronic/hard copy record formats.
- Shall ensure compliance and participation with competency improvement activities including, but not limited to, credentialing, continuing education (per licensure requirements or minimum of 24 hours per year of clinically based trainings), implementation of evidence-based practices, peer review attendance, and professional improvement practices.
- Participates in corporate quality improvement and problem-solving activities. Maintains confidentiality and privacy within MDHHS, state and federal guidelines.
- Utilizes knowledge of CARF, CMS, MDHHS and Managed Care standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Educational
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field with licensure in the State of Michigan as a Social Worker (LLMSW/LMSW); Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP/ LLP); Professional Counselor (LPC/LLP).
Basic Qualifications
- Behavioral health case management experience required.
- Two years of experience in a behavioral health care setting utilizing evidence-based practices and behavior modification techniques.
- Good organizational, verbal/written communication, computer, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-directed and resourceful.
- One year of computer experience – Word, Excel, and electronic medical record software preferred.

A trauma-informed approach to service delivery emphasizes physical and emotional safety, choice, empowerment, and trustworthiness for customers. The impact of trauma is broad and touches many life domains. Participation is mandatory for activities required for Summit Pointe to become a “Trauma Informed System of Care.”
Physical Requirements:
- Professional office environment that generates noise from computer equipment/peripherals.
- Possible exposure to health risks (violence and infectious diseases).
- Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 25 lbs.
- May be required to work variable hours/shifts.
