As a Collections Representative you will assist members with collection issues and process all collections notices.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts collection calls on negative accounts and consumer loans
- Processes restraining notices
- Process CUNA claims and disability notices
- Process bankruptcy notices
- Process daily death notices, reclamations, and prepares deceased files to referral to outside attorneys
- Process weekly collection report
- Handles the process to charge off negative accounts and prepares charged off loans and negative accounts referrals sheets for collection agencies or outside counsel
- Fields incoming calls for how to close out deceased accounts
- Manages payment plan log and follow-ups on payments
- Provides back-up assistance to process and answer eOscar disputes
- Provides back-up assistance to set cars up for repossession
- Posts daily payments and payments from collection agencies
- Assists members with collection issues and works on solutions for payment
- Liaisons with insurance companies, OwnersChoice Mortgage and other third parties
- Process loan extensions in XP
- Process credit card payments via on-line gateway portal
- Assists with ad-hoc projects and monthly/quarterly reports
- Logs and handles daily mail
- Maintain logs for negative accounts, bankruptcies, and accident logs
- Maintains accurate records and documentation for collection activities
- Answers phone, emails and mail requests from Members
- Backs up other departmental staff as necessary
- Achieves a minimum of "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits and examinations
- Accomplishes the credit union's mission by completing relevant duties as needed when requested by management or other staff members
Essential Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency certification required. One to two years of experience required, preferably in financial services.
- Knowledge of credit union collection procedures and policies
- Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations and procedures
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Demonstrated skill handling sensitive information and situations
- Demonstrated skill in member/customer service
- Skill with independent problem-solving
- Intermediate mathematical skills
- Ability to communicate successfully with members and outside parties
- Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines
- Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
- Ability to work with direct supervision of daily activities
