Job Details
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our commercial general contractor firm. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our preconstruction process, preparing accurate cost estimates for various commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine material quantities and labor requirements
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects of varying size and complexity
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing information
- Develop quantity-based estimates from partial information when necessary
- Review and validate subcontractor bids and work scopes
- Identify potential deficiencies in drawings and generate pricing to cover them
- Maintain up-to-date information on material and labor costs through research and vendor relationships
- Assist in the preparation and submission of bid proposals
- Support the estimating department in accumulating historical cost data
- Participate in project handover meetings with the construction team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in estimating
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, Primavera, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
