What You’ll Do:
- Analyze data and trends to improve the quality of our product catalog in order to increase customer satisfaction, trust, and site conversion rates; researching categories and vendors to build out selection
- Create cross-functional partnerships to advance your category and suppliers through merchandising, promotions, marketing, on-trend product selection, effective pricing and profitability, and operational excellence
- Create and enforce best practice guidelines to enrich product assortment, optimizing processes to enable high quality & efficiency while guaranteeing an easily digestible experience for suppliers & internal stakeholders
- Build key supplier relationships to enable successful negotiations and push towards a best-in-class customer experience
- Leverage data to analyze the competitive environment, report on performance trends, and develop business cases for strategic initiatives
- Represent Wayfair at various offsite events such as trade shows
- Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders
What You’ll Need:
Basic Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of transferable experience in a corporate environment, including internship and co-op experience
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by Wayfair now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Analytical mindset able to process large volumes of data using a variety of reporting tools (Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, etc.)
- Ability to distill complex information in a simplistic way via emails, charts, graphs, and other forms of presentations
- Passionate about execution with a strong interest to drive customer engagement
- Desire to own projects from beginning to end, and thrive as part of a team as well as individually
- Comfortable navigating a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong project management and prioritization skills
As a Commercial Strategy Associate, you’ll join our teams that are driving Wayfair’s best-in-class online customer experience. You’ll be responsible for owning and maintaining Wayfair’s vast e-commerce catalog, executing strategy for product categories and managing supplier relationships, and continually improving the customer’s on-site shopping experience.

Wayfair Professional (aka Wayfair B2B) is an industry leading business to business sales organization dedicated to help businesses make good spaces great. Wayfair Professional is the ‘gated’ experience of Wayfair dedicated to all business customers. We organize our customer base and corresponding offering (site and sales) into 7 industry verticals, prioritizing our Interior Design, Commercial Office and Contractor experiences. We are on a journey to being a $5B+ business by 2025 (+30% YoY growth), with over a $300B opportunity to cover across North America and Europe over the subsequent 10 years.
Catalog Merchandising
The Global Merchandising organization is responsible for building and maintaining Wayfair’s e-commerce catalog of over 24 million+ products. The organization consists of multiple teams who each play a crucial role in defining and executing on best-in-class merchandising. The Global Merchandising teams guide the management of our enormous product catalog and provide suppliers with tools to continually expand our product assortment. The Merch teams drive product discovery, consideration, and purchase on all of our stores and marketing channels by ensuring customers have complete, accurate, and relevant product information, and by removing friction for suppliers to provide it. The Data Integrations & Analytics teams leverage Big Data to optimize internal merchandising processes. Together, these teams deliver on key merchandising goals.
Category Management
The Category Management team drives strategy for Wayfair’s product categories through tight internal and external partnership. We serve as ambassadors of the product categories we manage. We are at the forefront as Wayfair redefines the supplier experience as a platform, giving suppliers more data, more transparency, and more control while retaining the high-touch elements that make working with Wayfair exceptional. Internally, we leverage a diverse set of cross-functional partners to execute our strategic vision. In a role on the Category Management team, you will be expected to define overarching goals and strategy within your category, problem-solve, articulate and execute against tactical plans, and manage key business metrics. Members of the team must be able to expertly negotiate internally and externally, while also being effective project managers.
Marketing
Our Marketing team drives growth for Wayfair on every major advertising platform. We aren’t your standard marketers: we own the strategy, analytics, and operations for our portfolio of cutting-edge digital and offline marketing channels. We utilize big data to acquire high-potential customers and engage them to come back again and again. We drive profitable top line revenue by investing marketing dollars where they will provide the greatest return for the business and leverage our understanding of the customer to inform the overall business strategy. We frequently collaborate with Creative, Marketing Technology, Data Science, Category Management, Merchandising, and other internal and external partners.
North America/Europe Retail Tech Analytics
The North America/Europe Retail Tech Analytics Team empowers stakeholders across the Global Supplier Organization to grow their businesses through data-driven analytics, scalable tools, and streamlined processes.
Perigold
Perigold is Wayfair’s newest brand, targeting the luxury home market. We are focused on providing an unparalleled assortment of luxury home goods through an elevated online shopping experience for our customers. We do this by connecting the best brands with our luxury customers while working on product curation, brand marketing and storytelling, building a best-in-class site experience, and providing best-in-class service and delivery. We serve as ambassadors for the categories we manage by identifying and solving unique customer and supplier challenges. Internally, we partner with various teams including Profit Management, Merchandising, Partner Operations, Marketing, Brand and Curated Merchandising and Promotions to bring the Perigold vision to life.
Supplier Advertising & Merch Services
The Supplier Advertising team sells and advocates the use of our advertising suite of products to our supplier base. We help suppliers stand out on site and amplify their exposure off site. The team is focused on driving: the maximum performance for every dollar a supplier spends with us and significant high margin revenue to Wayfair’s bottom line.
Supplier Inventory Management
On the Supplier Inventory Management team, we partner with thousands of suppliers to maximize customers’ experience. This means driving speed and availability through supplier inventory and positioning strategies, leveraging both Wayfair’s fulfillment services (CastleGate) as well as suppliers’ existing supply chains. On this team, you'll have a "COO" mindset, and be responsible for individual supplier and category inventory strategy, including integrating with Wayfair's e-comm and physical retail.

Wayfair's In-Office Policy:
All Boston-based corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely Friday.
