Overview
PURPOSE: Manage Commodity Portfolio as assigned
Responsibilities
1. Meet, review, and discuss with suppliers all available technology, operations, opportunities, and supply chain challenges.
2. Travel to supplier and divisional sites, applicable trade and industry events, and other locations as required.
3. Be the liaison between suppliers, international sourcing, divisional manufacturing facilities, sales, R&D, and the EVV purchasing group.
4. Acquire and maintain an in depth knowledge base of foreign and domestic market forces, trends in cost and technology, and R&D platforms within assigned portfolio of commodities.
5. Present and complete periodic comprehensive sourcing reviews of assigned commodity portfolio using cost models to validate strategic metrics and results.
6. Create risk assessments and make ongoing recommendations regarding suppliers, their reliability, competitive pressures, capabilities, financial health, and market strengths/weaknesses.
7. Act as project manager (develop, manage, and implement) for cross functional teams ensuring cohesiveness and maximum utilization of resources to meet project objectives and time lines.
8. Review contracts to ensure specific requirements are present that support each commodities strategic and financial goals.
9. Actively participate in the education and training of purchasing staff and other groups as required.
10. Negotiate with and conduct business reviews with suppliers.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree and 5 years experience in the sourcing field required, previous commodity knowledge preferred.
2. Experience with international business and sourcing preferred.
3. Understanding of Berry Global's key financial indicators.
4. Demonstrated ability to negotiate with a high level of success.
5. Displays results oriented leadership style with strong influencing skills and the ability to lead or participate on teams.
6. Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations.
7. Possess the skills required to make presentations to all levels of Management.
8. Ability to travel when required.
9. Advanced proficiency with purchasing systems and computer programs such as JDE, Cognos, Lotus Notes, SharePoint and applicable Microsoft applications
