JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary Brown County Public Health protects and
promotes equitable health and wellness through prevention, education,
leadership, and partnerships. We are looking for someone who is
passionate about public health and serving the community as the
Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist will act as the
Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Division and will help Brown
County Public Health in the development, implementation, and execution
of strategic communication materials and methods to promote the value of
public health and the programs and services we offer and ensure timely
and relevant information to protect the health of Brown County community
members. Essential Duties Develop and implement outreach/marketing plans
for public health initiatives. Build and manage a rich-content
communications plan that attracts the appropriate audience to our many
distribution platforms (including websites, social media, interactive
elements and videos, presentations, etc.), and assures equitable access
to public health information . Serve as point of contact/intake for
media requests, and works with Public Health Officer and County
Information Officer to assist with identifying appropriate
spokesperson(s) and scheduling media interviews Serve as back-up
spokesperson and completes media interviews in collaboration with the
Public Health Officer and the Brown County Public Information Officer.
Use trusted relationships with media partners to schedule and coordinate
interviews both recurring and as requested by local, regional, and
national media outlets. Serve as Public Information Officer (PIO) during
public health emergencies. Assist Community Services Division and
Community Treatment Center, both with Health & Human Services, with
media related services as needed and as time allows. Research and
prepare talking points essential for community understanding, to be used
for staff reference as well as media interviews. Serve as initial point
of contact/intake for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and
ensures requests are completed with appropriate public health manager
and Brown County Corporation Counsel Participate on Brown County and
State Public Information groups or committees Monitor, track, and
document media coverage to ensure a consistent, clear message is
presented to the community. Assist with monitoring media coverage of
Brown County Public Health and public health issues. Possess strong
verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Keep
websites for Brown County Public Health and other collaborative entities
up to date with relevant content and the latest features, including
content accessible in multiple formats and languages. Lead internal
website and social media efforts, including reviewing and monitoring
social media posts for appropriate content. Remain current with digital
marketing trends and anticipate new strategies, including updates to
social media marketing, attribution, and multi-platform media buying.
Create content for the public at large to increase the value of Public
Health in the community. In collaboration with the Community Engagement
team, coordinate agency branding efforts to maintain a consistent brand
voice and message. Develop various multimedia campaigns, create
templates, calls to action, and content. Work to improve internal
communications through management of intranet site, signage, etc. Work
collaboratively with the Public Health Epidemiologist and make
data-driven decisions to target appropriate public health messaging;
analyze public health data and translates findings to a variety of
audiences, including in depth and meaningful analysis of health
disparities. Create content and marketing tools based on proven
conversion behaviors (such as past engagement and website interactions,
site page visits, etc.). Review and understand Public Health best
practices and guidelines i order to communicate recommendations to the
public. * OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to
engage in public speaking and make public presentations. Ability to
communicate effectively both orally and in written materials with
medical providers, educators, other staff members, students, community
groups, partner agencies, news media, and the public. Ability to present
to leadership and boards such as Board of Health, Human Services
Committee, and the Brown County Board of Supervisors, as requested.
Ability to represent Brown County Public Health at community events as
needed Ability to integrate a trauma-informed perspective when
interacting with stakeholders and co-workers. Ability to creatively
develop concepts and materials that are health literate and engage
diverse audiences meaningfully. Ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with staff, community professionals and
the public. Ability to work under pressure. Familiarity with PDSA (Plan,
Do, Study, Act) or similar quality improvement models and ability to
implement quality improvement processes and assist with other
accreditation duties as assigned Familiarity with development of print
materials and related design software. Ability to define public health
problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions. Ability
to complete the objectives of assigned projects. Ability to establish
and maintain community partnerships. Ability to maintain data and
develop reports, monitoring progress towards set goals. Ability to
