Duties
This position is part of the SRACES contract with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama and is for on site work at Marshall supporting the Human Landing Services office on behalf of the MSFC Office of Strategic Analysis and Communications.
While work will include managing and coordinating the full spectrum of communications efforts in support of the communications team for HLS, a primary focus is on public outreach. This may include local event support (occasionally in the evening or weekends) or travel to regional or national events 3-4 times per year.
- Support writing and execution of an annual overarching strategic communications plan as well as communications plans for major project milestones and events.
- Developing event-based communications plans and executing logistical arrangements • Integration across multiple teams in the MSFC OSAC office, HLS, and other NASA organizations as well as outside vendors
- Support development and dissemination of key messaging • Support executive communications efforts within the team
- Write blog posts, press releases, newsletter articles, etc. in both AP writing style and according to the NASA style guide.
- Represent HLS at conferences at exhibit booths, should be comfortable with interacting with the public and speaking about subject matter
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications or appropriate area of specialization; And seven (7) years of directly related experience
- Must be an excellent writer and speaker.
- Must have demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively to implement communications efforts in a complex and dynamic organizational structure.
- Background in scientific or technical subject matter is strongly preferred.
- Ability to navigate and develop proficiencies in a wide variety of information systems is key, including use of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, etc.

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
